This episode of Eventyrlig Oppussing, a renowned Norwegian TV show about renovation, design and cabin culture takes place in beautiful Laupstad on the Lofoten Islands. Here, surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the Austnesfjord, stands an old fishing harbour called ‘Brygga’. Today it also serves as a holiday home and a meeting place. From here you have a magnificent view of the fjord and the surrounding mountains, making this a favourite retreat among the family.
The cabin belongs to Grandma Eva, who uses it the most and lends it generously to family, friends and even friends of friends. Her family wanted to preserve the unique character of the ‘Brygga’ while making it more comfortable to stay. Therefore, her youngest son Finn Tore and his wife Kristin contacted Eventyrlig Oppussing on Eva's behalf. Their aim was to continue to keep the cabin as a gathering point while incorporating modern and practical solutions.
The warm wood tone of our parquet runs through the kitchen and living room and adds an inviting, cosy atmosphere to the rooms. Oak Vivo as a fitting choice harmonises with the surrounding nature and creates a feel-good ambience that perfectly complements the rugged beauty of Lofoten. The natural look of the parquet preserves the character of the ‘Brygga’ while at the same time creating a modern cosiness.
Large windows and a new glazed patio door allow plenty of daylight to flow into the interior and skilfully set off the new flooring. The combination of contemporary elements and the historic structure of the cabin creates a unique retreat that fulfils the requirements of the present and preserves the charm of the past.
