Our family has always chosen hardwood flooring from BOEN
Choosing hardwood flooring from BOEN was a natural choice when it was time to renovate the mountain cabin at Gautestad in Norway
-My grandfather actually worked at BOEN, but he has been retired for as long as I can remember. Yet hardwood flooring from BOEN have always been the natural choice for our family” says Randi Røinaas Lomeland. So when Randi and her husband decided to restore their cabin built in 1974 Boen was in Randi’s mind.

-The old cabin had paneled walls that had yellowed and two different types of hardwood flooring. The people that owned the cabin before had renovated it bit by bit. So one of the priorities was to replace the old hardwood floor, but the total refurbishment became a much bigger job than the couple had imagined. Under the old hardwood floor, there was in fact so much rot that everything had to be removed, and the cabins subfloor had to be refitted again. It ended up being an unforeseen and expensive job, but if you look at it in a positive way; the new subfloor become a smooth and perfect surface for the new hardwood floor.

Installing the hardwood floor ourselves

-Yes, my husband installed the hardwood floor on his own, even though he is not a
professional, she says. “The job of laying the floor become much easier thanks to the
newly casted subfloor surface and the hardwood floors very easy click system.

It was necessary to keep the costs down since the refurbishment expenses had become
higher than the couple expected, so they had to consider the new hardwood floors price.
They were lucky to find a hardwood floor they liked on BOENs factory outlet in Norway.

- At the outlet in Norway you can get hardwood floors with slight factory defects at a
reduced price.
We were lucky and purchased our Oak Concerto White, Longstrip Live Matt Lacquer
for a good price, and found that it was only a few floorboards that had defects which
were thrown away.

The hardwood floor suits the cabin very well

-We are very pleased. It is functional, beautiful and of good quality, says Randi.
We are very fond of our hardwood floor. It is light, yet warm and cozy for a cabin and
has been installed the living room, kitchen and bedrooms, and will probably be lying
there for several generations to come.

- Since buying the cabin we have used all our time renovating that the family are now
looking forward to getting proper use out of the cabin, looking forward to relaxation
and just having some good times here at our cabin says Randi Røinaas Lomeland.
